Friendship is ______________

after celebrating KY's victory over Ohio State, last night, a friend and I went to cafe' coco to catch up on life and talk a few hours away. This friend, means the absolute world to me, and during our conversation it was brought up how few true friends there are in life. We have a lot of acquaintances, but are they going to go the distance for you when you need them?

i know a lot of people, who when in a relationship, forget all about their friends. they are 100% focused on that significant other. maybe it's just me, but i think that is just lame. pathetic. y'all suck. you need those friends, when things get a little rocky, or you need someone to vent to. If you push them all out of your life and only want them when it's convenient for yourself, they aren't gonna be around anymore.

a friendship is dropping things to be there for another. a friendship is crawling out of bed at 3 in the morning if someone is having a meltdown. a friendship is surprising someone with flowers when they are having a crappy day at work. a friendship is sacrificing your wallet to take someone to dinner. a friendship is knocking someone over the head when they're about to do something stupid, like smoking (eghm eghm, anonymous shout out).

a friendship is letting go of your self worthy thoughts and desires, and opening yourself up to others. a friendship is feeling someone else's pain as your own. a friendship is crying for the hearts of those who are hurting.

i know this last year i have to separate myself from a lot of people who i thought were close friends. i was quickly figuring out that there was no depth in our relationship. it doesn't mean that i don't care about those people, but it does mean that i am going to be careful about how much i invest, and how much i let them invest in my life.

i feel like this is very scattered. but if it weren't it wouldn't be me.
anywho - I GOT RED WINGS PREDATORS TICKETS!!!!
i am ridiculously pumped about the game. and i wouldn't have been able to go if it weren't for a true friend of mine, Ms. Christie, who surprised me with the tickets at work.... she is such a blessing in my life (smiles) olive her.
