how i got from school to cousins, i don't know

I am currently sitting in a freezing starbucks in spring hill tennessee. i am killing some time before i get to go hang out with my little brother. i am fully expecting a lesson on flying helicopters tonight (smiles). He is the expert. A true pilot.

This morning was spent in Murfreesboro with my mother. We went out to a Thai restaurant for brunch, and when we were waiting for our food, she says to me "do you remember all of those days you said you were sick, and i let you have the day off of school? were you really sick?" (this conversation stemmed from me refusing to use a wet nap at the thai restaurant, i told her i wanted to build up my immunities) I told her that i really was sick... at least 50% of the time haha. the beauties of homeschooling.

i really didn't mind homeschooling all that much. it was nice being able to have a lot of field trips. i could do my classes in any order i wanted to. and i could stay in pajamas alllll day long. plus my mom didn't let me hang out with the typical homeschoolers: denim overalls, long braids to the butt, and regular spelling bee competitors. I usually slept in, did my homework, practiced piano, and then darted off with my publicly educated friends when they got out of school.

i was also very close with my cousins. i miss that the most! they were like my brothers and sisters. we have all pretty much dispersed across the U.S. now, but when we all hang out together i feel like a part of my heart is whole again.

my cousin arielle is only six months younger than i am, and we were definitely the closest. she had an obsession with string. she would tie it, throw it, and web it all over the house. it was like a jungle. i also remember she was not good at sharing. one christmas she didn't let me use her nail polish she had gotten from santa. she looked at me and said "SEE! it says AR-IE-LLE not Hali, nope it doesn't say Hali!" but of course i forgave her and we went and ate sunflower seeds with her pet birds (that freaked me out). she lives in florida now, and as she is going to school, she is also boxing (eyes bulge) don't let the petite blonde haired, blue eyed beauty fool you! she is a beast!

Bradley, until spencer was born was the only male in a circle of female cousins. We used to dress him up as a girl and do his hair. i really don't know how the poor sucker handled us. I used to make fun of him all the time because he was shorter than me. he would always claim that one day he would be taller than me and would throw me around... well he is 6'6" now and i have no power against him. He lives in LA and is studying clarinet at USC. He is one of the hardest workers I know (smiles) and he avoids wearing dresses now.

My family has been tossed and turned here or there, but all in all, we are very close. i wouldn't change a thing. i can't wait to see them all again (smiles)
